Eczema is a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the upper layers of the skin. Psoriasis is an auto immune disorder which affects the skin. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. The scaly patches caused by psoriasis are areas of excessive skin production and inflammation. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes a slivery-white appearance. Psoriasis is not contagious.
