Used by the Aztecs as part of certain rituals, Damiana (turnera diffusa) is native to Mexico and is now found throughout the southern United States and many parts of South America. Damiana makes a fragrant, sparkling tea with a delicious aroma and an agreeable bitterish taste. Its aromatic leaves are sometimes employed to flavor liqueurs. Damiana is also smoked by some instead of tobacco. Damiana is held in high repute by Spanish herbalists for its varied beneficial purposes. Damiana is still used by many for its traditional applications. Alvita Damiana Leaf.
